due to the fact that i can not fit any thing under my stand, my only option is to get a hob refugium. i keep reading how beneficial they are and how they also help filter and supply natural food source for live stock. does anybody use this type of refugium and how does it work for you and are they efficient?

i was thinking of a hob refugium made by cpr with no skimmer. i have a skimmer in sump.

I had one on a 75 g. Did it work-- not to my liking. I did have lots of pods in it, had to trim the cheato every week.

well my ph would drop at night. It did nothing to keep the ph at 8.1 or higher. I would say the only thing it's good for is pods. I now have a 20 gal refugium and is happy that I did.

no experience with hob but i assume they are equally as beneficial as sump style fuge. I would go for it, the addition of pods, reverse lighting, nitrate reduction, and +water volume make it worth it. Even if you have a hob emperor filter or something laying around you can convert that into a hob fuge.
    CPR is better tho:p imo

well i picked up a large hob refugium made by cpr. i got it with and 65 watt coralife fixture and stand legs for fifty bucks. this is my only option that i have if i want to run a refugium. i was trying to convince the wife to let me run a display refugium, like a 24 gallon nanocube next to the main tank but my bubble got bursted. ;D:cry:
