    Hey all,
    Just wanted to introduce myself and to give a HUGE thank you to everyone sharing their knowledge on the forums. I've begun cycling my first SW as of yesterday.


    Setup info:

    DT: 29 gal
    Substrate: mix of dry and live aragonite (approx 3" deep, not planned final depth)
    Live Rock: 20lbs Florida
    Circulation: 1 Koralia powerhead(400 GPH), 1 Penguin 350 biowheel (just biowheels and some floss to help with sediment and bacteria - will be pulled after sump has been running for a while).
    Heater: Stealth 150w(IIRC)



    On the way:
    AquaC Urchin Pro skimmer (For sump)
    Overflow
    Sump return pump

    Plan: 10 Gallon sump under DT, excess substrate and an additional 10 lbs of LR transferred to section of the sump after the sump is finished (1-2 weeks). Planning on ripping off some of the designs I've seen here for the PVC pipe for the sump. ;)


    I'll be taking this slowly, managing not only PH and NOs, but Salinity & additional mineral levels is uncharted territory. If tank is stable and levels are good- perhaps some CUC in mid May.

    Ah!! A fellow Coloradan!! And in Denver too. Whereabouts? Hey if you need/want advice on which LFSs to go to, and which ones to avoid (there's actually only 1 that I don't like), I have been to all of them, and many times. I've been doing this for 7 years and know which ones will give you solid advice.

    Have you checked out any of the local clubs? Really MASC (Marine Aquarium Society of Colorado) is the most active. There is DARC (Denver Area Reef Club) but they aren't as active.

    Welcome to 3reef. Let me know what you need to know about the Denver reefing community.

    bbsbliss: Absolutely, that's the plan! I've got some DIY things I'd like to do and I enjoyed reading others' projects with pics.

    Brandon1023: Lakewood, yourself? The only shop I have been to thus far was Premier Fish and Reef off of Wadsworth and 285. I'd love the skinny on local shops, I'm sure it will save me headaches down the road.

    And no, I hadn't looked into any of the local communities. Thanks for the names, bookmarked. I'll pm you with the questions to avoid going OT in the thread.
