I personally dont see the appeal of chalices . . . I mean some are nice to see pics of I guess, but how do you justify spending $400-600 on something the size of a small marble. For the same money you could get some killer acans, or doughnut corals and end up with way more color in your tank.

is there something I'm missing about chalices?

WOW its nice to see SOMEONE agrees with me :) they are a waste of money IMO 400 for half inch that will take 5 years to grow to a tiny colony........not worth it ill take 400 and buy tons of nice zoas that reproduce like rabbits lol

Well now that makes three of us.

Personally I'd rather see a tank dominated by the swaying tentacles of various color morphs of hammer, frog, and torch, and throw in some duncans, fungia, red goniopora, and various fuzzy mushrooms. In other words, what my tank looks like, lol.

Chalice is a beautiful coral, but honestly it looks to me like colorful, chewed bubble gum.

Do we seriously need to start going in circles on this like we did on the other board "oceansparadise"=) Really, I'm not in the mood to talk about people making their own decisions and being a fan of high end corals.
