So I haden't seen really too much color change in this frag if it was indeed a red planet and I was thinking that I would have seen some red by now! It's been a few weeks now. Then noticed around the side that there was a slightly more pinkish color... and realized I had glued it with the back of it getting more light then the front... it was tilted forward! (DUH!!) And I can't go around to the side of the tank to take a pic because it is sitting inside a china cabnet, so I turned off the pumps and took a pic from above (sorry for the crappy pic, my camera isn't made to do this lol). Hard to do because my fixture gives me only 4 inches to get my arm under without getting burnt (which I did lol) to take a pic with the lights on, so I could see for sure if it was turning red! And VUALLA!!.. Check this out!!!!!! No doubt about it now! Definately a red planet!! I am going to take it off the rock, turn it around and make sure it tilts a little more back so the side that is turning red, keeps turning red! LOVE IT!! So, now I'm gunna e-mail the buddy who gave me this frag for FREE and show him what it really is that he gave me ;P Because he didn't know lol. He's probably gunna want it back! hehe. I'll give him a frag when it gets bigger just cause I'm a nice person ;)

I never said it was an ORA red planet... I just said "red planet". If ORA is the only place that has and aquacultures this coral in the entire world (which I boubt) then just look at it... it's abviously a "red planet" and if ORA only has these... then where else would it come from?? Whether it's from ORA (not stating that it is) or somewhere else... it's the same coral as the red planet, you can tell by looking at it, so that's what I'm calling it. It could easily be from someone else... like you said, the guy before me didn't know what it was or where it came from, but from the look of how it's growing and the colors it is turning into... I'm calling it a red planet :p

Red Planet is a named species of Acropora with lineage to ORA. Some say it is Acropora hyacinthus and some say it is Acropora anthocercis. Both of these species of acropora can look like what you have there. It could be Acropora millepora too.

Sorry if i am coming off too inquisitive, but i have been burned too many time with false advertising. I don't know how many times someone has sold me a frag with a name that refers to specific lineage only to find out it was just a look alike. But i still paid the "named" price. :(

IMO Red Planet means it is known that it came from the ORAs colony. Also meaning that other reefers know how to take care of that exact species and strain. Slapping that name on it is misidentifying it, and you could accidentally provide poor care for it assuming it's needs are the same. If it looks good, you shouldn't have to cover it up with a silly name, the coral will speak for itself.

Ok... Yea I wasn't sure if Red Planet was named by ORA or if it was just the name of that kind of coral :p The coral I have I am pretty sure it is not a millepora... I have a green and burgendy millepora, rose mille, and a green pink mille and this doesn't look like a mille to me. It may possibly be another coral you mentioned but with all the pics I have seen of red planets mine looks pretty close like one of thier frags. But not 100% sure. I'm just calling it "red planet" because that's what it looks like lol
