Are the orange Home Depot buckets fine to use as a water reservoir for RO/DI? (after cleaning, of course)

Nothing about them that's harmful to the water is there?

Most of the threads I've read seem to think they are fine but I read a couple that sounded like they weren't, so I want to double check first.

    thanks all

I don't think they're any different than a salt bucket. Which I use often.

I have used them for various things and never had issues. But personally, for something like an ATO where it is going to be long-term storage, I would use something food grade.

all i can say is let your water soak a day or two and then check for ammonia.
    you might be surprised.

They should sell plain white buckets. That is what I use and it is food-grade. Avoid the orange buckets. I have one I use for old tank water, but I do not use it for new water because it has a rubber seal in the lid.
