Since I realized I barely have time to maintain my tank the way I'd like, having 2 young ones and working overtime I decided that I needed ANOTHER hobby. SO homebrewing it is!! I figured with my love of beer and creating things/watching them grow, homebrewing is perfect for me!!

My first batch was a simple easy drinking low alcohol pilsner, but I have a bock conditioning in honor of spring and a higher alcohol content pale ale brewing.
My next goal is a high alcohol IPA and then a beer dubbed 'Novacaine' that is alledgedly 11.8% alcohol content!! Sometimes you need to drink a 'stay at home beer'!!

This spring I would also like to grow my own hops so I will keep you all informed not only about my 180 SPS tank but also my brew tank!

    Cheers and happy reefing!!

Sounds good. Couldn't we all use another hobby?

That's awesome, did you buy a kit, or the ingredients separately? Got any plans for an ale in the future?

My husband is an avid brewer...I got him hooked 6 years ago when I bought him a kit for Christmas... There are many avenues you can take the brewing to. He has started doing whole grains this last year..

You'll never drink bud light again!! LOL once you brew your own beer you just can't drink regular beers in the stores..

Feel free to PM me with any questions. Hubby would love to answer them..

I've haven't drinken a bud light since well before I was able to drink legally!! I have always loathed them!! I have always been a fan of micros, esp dark beers, IPA's barleywines and so on....

I will keep the offer in mind!!

I was given a kit for my birthday.... Its fun but too easy. Add can A to boiling water, then add B and then mull sack with hops....

After this batch I am planning on doing the real deal and purchasing all of my own ingredients... My father has a large garden that he is planning on expanding and last time we were together enjoying a beer I told him I was going to grow some Cascade and maybe Noble hops in it...

As far as ales, I am sure I am going to brew one... Well technically everything I have brewed is considered an ale as I didn't 'lager' them.

    Thanks for reading!

I think you and hubby would get along great...LOL he started some casade and another type of hops last year in our back yard..

He too hasn't had a bud light in a long time.. We only have real beer in our home... LOL His whole family drinks the bud light with lime and look at him funny when we bring our own beer to family events.. Oh well.. Can't change everyone..

How much does the home made beer cost on average?? I know the wine is cheap if you diy, what about beer? Is it cheaper than buying it??
