i have a 55 set up as well im running comp floresent. right now its a coralife 4x65w 48" long, and im saving to upgrade the lighting on it. what i might do is get a couple of small 150 MH kits and build a canopy myself. and get a really good set up and save my money that way. insted of buying a cheep lighting system. and im thinking about selling custom made canopys. i have seen thouse lights all over ebay. i belive there jebo brand but i can not say for sure. but im not going to get one of thouse. esp since there is no mention of a brand anywhere on it. i dont mind cheep lights but im NEVER buying a jebo again period! but like i said i cant say for sure that it is jebo or not.

i dont think its a bad light especially for the money. the only problem i see is that its 15" wide and the 55 i have in my basement is only13" wide so i dont think you would be able to use the legs that come with it and you might have a lot of light spilling out the front and back

A buddy of mine just got one of those lights for a 75g tank. It puts off a lot of yellow light. He even went and bought 20,000K bulbs and still a lot of yellow. We did some research on them and a lot of people have the same complaint. The fix for it is to buy a better ballast then what comes with it. So you would be better off to buy the name brand instead of the knock off of it to save money cause in the long run, you will spend more then what the name brand costs to try to fix the knock off.

catfish lighting builds the same ones that sells at aquatraders... all the parts are made in china. When something says made in the USA it doesnt mean it was made here, it means it was assebled here most of the time.

I learned all about that when I worked at dell. Dell laptops are NOT made in the USA, they are made in malaysia. Just repackaged and tested in the usa.

Ahh! This is right up my ally. I also have a 55 gal tank and about a year ago was plagued with what lights to upgrade to! Do I get MH or VHO or what! Well...I found out that although MH would be great...a chiller is not very cheap...hah. So I started researching lights that wouldnt cause me troubles. I found T-5HOs.

Let me say, I am very very happy with my choice.

Also, just incase you are wondering, yes, sps grow! I have had many sps grow and flourish! I used to have PC which made any acro turn brown, but a few weeks after I added the new lights it turned neon green again.

I also have a RBTA that is doing great. Heck I went from 260w to 216w and the corals are doing better! Check out the pics...man i need to update those...most of the frags are bigger now.

So...if you ask me, a four bulb t-5ho fixture is perfect for a 55gal...no chiller needed hah. Check out ReefGeek > Aquarium Supplies for Marine, Reef, and Saltwater Aquariums They have great stuff there, nice people too, very quick to respond to emails!

I wondered about that. The light fixures from catfish lighting looked similar to Aquatraders. The only thing I can say is that I emailed catfish lighting and they emailed me back the same day and gave me a phone # to call in case I had any questions where as aquatraders has no customer service to speak of.
