It looks like a bi-valve clam with lots of growths on it.

Maybe try moving the rock or clam mouth to the front for the time being then once we correctly id it switch it back.

Here is a pic of it from the front, but now that I moved the rock it's closed up. Maybe tomorrow it will start moving again.

If it is a clam it might be cool to just leave the rock facing this way anyway, except when I placed the rock this way it's not as stable.

My LFS live rock are loaded with these. I had a few of them years ago. I don't think they live more than a few months in captivity. I think  they need to filter a lot food to stay alive. Harmless, cool little guys. When they are agitated, they will raise up and snap back down.

It makes sense now, it was probably agitated because my snail was crawling all over it.

Is there anything I can feed it to keep it alive, and if it does die do I need to remove it?

Ya, it's in the Ark Clam family, probably a "Turkey Wing." They don't do much, nor hurt anything, but they may react to light or a shadow.

    Cheers,

    Don

As politely as I can say,

Did you get that piced of LR with all that GHA all over it?
Is it on the other rocks too?

That may be a chore eradicating that

I got it with it on there, I didn't know it was bad. My snails and hermits are having at it though and it's way cleaner than it was when I put it in the tank.
