Me and the fiance are planning our wedding. We are looking at some places to go diving and focusing our vacation on that. We originally looked at hawaii but had a few other suggestions given to us. I heard cozumel is a good place and is much cheaper than hawaii.

I am open for suggestions on location, dive companies, packages.. etc..

I would also love to hear your dive experiences or even see pics.

my family and i went diving in cozumel before. It is about 300 USD for four ppl to go out for a day. you have a guide and he takes you around. You are limited to a full tank of air (so breathe slowly lol)! If you are not certified it is nice because they do not make you get certified, if you are then you can go out with the boat and do your own thing. I can say that the reefs in this area are very nice... probably not as pretty as hawaii but still a treat to the eye! :)

scuba shack is unparalleled if you're in Maui, IMO, and they just got a new boat! $175 for a pool dive and then two 45 min dives with breakfast at the dock and on the boat. (this is the intro deal for people who don't know how to dive).

i didn't get into the Molokini Crater due to the weather and i was still floored by what i saw. check it!

cdeboard I've been to about every major island in the Caribbean and Hawaii. I would go to Hawaii if I were you.
Great sea life also in St. Lucia. My favorite all around island in the Caribbean is St. Martin.
Sailing... you can't beat the B.V.I.
As far as best diving type island.. I don't know but the best snorkeling I've done was in Hawaii.

Can you see a lot with snorkeling? And you dont need a guide for this right?

I am new to this whole thing. Not been many places at all. Just trying to find a cheap and easy way to see some reef life for me and the woman. We are going probably next fall and will be gone a few days.

Thanks for the dive shack info zj. I think i saw you post on this recently maybe?

I will check into pricing and how much money we have. I would love to go to hawaii.

I got my 3 star room in Waikiki beach for $50 per night and my car for $17 per day. Used priceline.com

Food is expensive there but that can vary greatly. You can see some cool fish and sea life snorkeling but I think to get to the best stuff diving is the way to go.

I've snorkeled (not been diving) in the Keys, Puerto Rico, Bahamas, and Cozumel - nothing comes close to Hawaii. You might be surprised even talking to a local travel agent. We took the whole family on a Keys/Bahamas cruise about 5 years ago with a travel agent - our price kept dropping and our room kept being upgraded. Ended up being a nice deal.

So much hype about the biggest US tourist trap there is lol. My mom has owned a travel agency for over 20 years and I have been helping her book dive vacations for almost ten years now. I am yet to hear anyone who has dove both Hawaii and Cozumel recommend Hawaii.

I would like to second the keys recommendation though. They have pretty good reefs and being able to drive there is a plus I'm sure. Let me know if you figure out dates you want to go and Ill look into Cozumel pricing for you.
