Hawaii is very expensive. I have dove all over the Caribbean. If you want to really stretch your dollar you should try the Bahamas. We spent 3 weeks there last year. You will have no problem finding flights and deals, due to its proximity to the US. The water is warm, crystal clear, the visibility is excellent, and the marine life is great. I did a bunch of shark dives there and they were amazing.

Aruba is also very nice, safe, good nightlife, and great diving. You can often find deals there too. If you have any questions about diving in Grand Cayman, Cancun, Aruba, Grand Bahama, or St. Lucia, feel free to PM me.

I've been snorkeling off the coast of Belize and St. Thomas, both were excellent (also on the Gulf side of Florida--prior to the BP debacle--which wasn't as great).

If I would have had scuba gear we could have dove deeper at either Belize or St. Thomas, there was plenty to be seen. :)

about 50 mile due west off Clearwater beach are 3 spectacular table top reefs.

One has a huge jew fish...a good 500lbs or better.
1st time I dove it I decided to stick my head over the ledge....well this baby did his gill slap and scared the living you know what out of me so bad i spit my regulator out LOL
Also alot of SPS corals and some LPS and tons of gorgonians

IME, if you are going to do a honeymoon dive resort thing, go to the pacific South preferably. While diving in the Caribbean is good, its 10x as good in the South Pacific. You want to remember this for a long time, gulf of Mexico/ Caribbean just doesn't have the intensity as the S pacific or other destinations.

It won't be an issue if you go to the South Pacific;)
