You'd be supprised hooch what ya can come up with really as far as making/building one.
Simple 2/4 with plywood bottom , and then covering with nice wood, oak/cherry etc.

I'd much rather see you with a proper stand.

Think about it , if the tank load is not close enough to "center" and or weight is off to one side or another, this could be one HUGE diasaster for you.
All it takes is an extra straw to break the poor camels back, you should really look into it.
build or buy one for that tank.

so i think that i'm def. gonna build one. geekdafield made a sweet one that i think i'm ganna try to emulate. if all goes to plan mine will have a cherry casing and be about 10 or 15 inches shorter. ( i have a lot of little cousins and if i made it too high they wouldnt be able to see nemo and dory, lol) anyways if anyone out there has any imput, or anything to guide me it would be greatly appriciated!

Well I know that i have never used copper. The tank is over 15 years old though so i dont kno what was used in it before I got it. I know before i got the tank it was torn down because the fish had ICH and i believe that there is copper in the medication to treat ich. I was looking at this filter media stuff that removes copper and it says that it removes leached copper out of silicone. I could get this just to be sure. What do you guys think?
