I have a black tang coming in tommorrow and want to put it in a qt tank. I bought a 20 gallon full set up just for my sick fish. I have a hob filter and the tank and light. Do I need to do anything other then add my tank water from my 220. I did a w/c from my 220 and just filler the 20g tank from the water in my main tank. I think I would keep it in the tank for a week doing a w/c in the tank with main tank water after day 4. I dont want to lose this fish so any info on setting up a qt tank would be great. Thanks

Anyone????? Just curious if this is the right way to do it? I have filled a brand new 20 gallon tank with a hob filter and used all water from my 220. Do I need air stones or anything? I have a heater and set it to 80 degrees. I have the salinity at 1.021 anyone??????? I pick this fish up in 3 hrs

Do you have a sponge or filter media you can put in the QT tank from the DT? I think you will be ok without it but you need to Monitor the water quality.
Also you need to keep the fish in QT for at least 3 weeks for it to be beneficial. The Ich life cycle is longer than a week so you could still have ich without the symptoms on the fish.

    Hope this helps

I have a couple live rocks I was going to place in there. I have a berlin style sump so there is very little sponges. I guess I could swap it out where to put it though? Should I do daily or every couple day water changes? I really do not want to lose this fish. It had a fresh water dip and was in qt for a week before shipping.

I think you could do it every 3 or 4 days but it would be best just to do a quick ammonia test every couple of days. If you have live rock in there from the DT then you dont need to worry about a sponge. I would do all water changes from the DT to the QT tank. Just dont overfeed the fish. Remove any food it doesn't eat. I wouldn't trust the QT for a week from someware else in less it was a brother or something that you are getting it from. Just my opinion.
