is this ok for a hospital

    10 gallon tank
    sponge filter
    heater light
a small ornament for hiding but no sand or rock
    and air pump

can i keep the sponge in my external filter so it has all the good bacteria in it then put it into the hospital filter when i need to treat a sick fish?

but will the medicine from treating the sick fish be in the sponge?
or is it best to throw it once the fish is betterand start again with a new sponge?

shall i add water from my dt to the hospital tank or fresh saltwater?

That sounds generally right, to me anyway. I'm not sure about the heater light or the air pump but just because I'm not sure exactly what you're referring to. Just keep the temperature stable and close to what your display tank is and make sure there is good water circulation and that you have good surface agitation of the water so there is good gas exchange with the air, you might consider a smaller powerhead, a koralia nano or koralia 1 or something.
You will want a filter that you can throw away the filter pad/sponge afterwards because you do not want to put it back in the display sump generally, there might be exceptions but as a general rule it's probably worth it to spend a few dollars to be sure you're not going to cause any problems. It can be difficult/impossible to ensure that it's fully cleaned/sanitized before putting it back in the sump.
As long as your DT is healthy and has good chemistry it's not a bad thing to use that water to start up a hospital tank IMO just be careful about that and don't use questionable water. Keep in mind that the water doesn't hold much of the nitrifying bacteria, the majority is all on the surface of the filter media/pad/sponge.
I would add more than one small ornament, even a few pieces of PVC pipe, elbows/T's etc of the appropriate size are good and cheap, something the fish can hide in completely but are easy to remove and sanitize if necessary.
Also be careful of some medications that can destroy the biological filter (nitrifying bacteria on the filter media/pad/sponge) which can lead to high levels of ammonia/nitrites. If you need to use one of those like some forms of copper I believe, make sure you do your research on it first so you know how to deal with it, daily water changes or whatever.

    My 2c, and AFAIK.
