    Hello,

I know it could take months for clowns to host but......

I've got two clown fish in my tank. I want them to host my BTA however they always sleep at the top of the tank and ever at the bottom near the BTA at night time.

Anything i can do to ?

    Cheers

You can put an image tapped to the side of the tank of an anemone hosting clown fish. This silly method seems to work very well for some people.

You can also try only feeding the anemone and the clowns might start diving in.

It's important not to force the issue and let the clowns reside where they want but you can give them a little encouragement. Never force a clown upon an anemone.

This probably doesn't help much but clowns are known to host anything and everything. I know someone who has a clown that hosts a rock!!

You mean the rock is the host to the clown....let's not get it backwards.

are they occs or percula? because those two species are very well known for being quite picky when it comes to hosting. but it all depends ont he species however some perculas are just as willing to host as others.

i find the clowns most willing to host are clarks, tomaroe, or maroon.
but of course you could always take a risk and put the nem and a clown in the breeder trap together, but your tanking quite a big risk here as you could end up with an eaten clown.

Lol - at my LFS his two mated occy's which are about 5 years old host giant mushrooms in this 180g display. I originally purchased a Condy when I was super noob to this hobby and wondered why my clown didn't host it! Well the condy is gone and I've yet to come across any anemone's that catch my eye @ the LFS. I was going to add a black occy about the same size as my current, so he wouldn't be so lonely but my LFS owner suggested not to because they wouldn't pair, they would just fight. Maybe look into getting another 6line soon because right now my tank is empty of fish basically - 1 clown & 1 shrimp goby.
