I have replaced 2 over the years in my current home, they sure don't make them like they used to.

Are you sure they went bad and not just the heating element. I know my mom got charged for a whole hot water heater from a company just because of a heating element.

Ok then, it really did need replaced, lol. Sorry that happened though. On the up side though, you will probably save on your water and electric/gas bill every month now.

When it rains it pours, least that's how it is around here... Sorry to hear about the bad luck. :-/ Just hope it doesn't happen again for some time! :)

Best thing I ever did was install a tankless water heater...I don't think it really saves a lot of money for us as we are a family of 4 that are home a lot, but it sure is awesome when we can all take 30min showers back to back if we want and never run out of hot water!

Haha. It was just bad timing. Just finished retrofitting some fish tank stuff (ro/di filters, 8 new t5s, and a new skimmer) and had a bunch of money planned to fix up the house. Not anymore ;(

+1 on the tankless heater but they are expensive up front. There is always the rental option (at least there is where I live) and its great because if something goes wrong they come fix it for free.
