Do you really have to stop at 300? They say the bigger the tank, the less work it is. I say the bigger the tank, the more FUN you have!

This thread needs a pic of its proposed location. If the room is big enough for a 300 by all means. Absolutely!

BTW, I play this game all the time with everyone that comes to my house. Every 72 hours the thought changes so... Mull it over good and long. But it sounds like to me you definitely are.

My dream house would have a 2000 gallon rectangular island somewhere in the main eating, kitchen, living room area.

I voted for 300, but I would like to mention some things you should think about. First expense, bigger tanks are more expensive to set up and to run, if that's not an issue then obviously it won't matter. Also, think of maintenance. Water changes must be larger, you will be changing on the order of 30-50 gallons or more. A big issue many people with large tanks find is that they can't reach the bottom of the tank and can't reach every area. This may seem trivial, but every person I know who has down sized, it was b/c of not being able to properly clean and reach all the areas of the tank w/o getting thier body wet or at all. THe amount of equipment you will is much more then the average tank. Heaters, chiller, lighting, flow etc. With this being said, you will be able to house larger fish with no problem and can achieve an amazing looking tank.

Large tanks get expensive, fast. Make sure your budget can handle it. Don't get the tank and then find you can afford to maintain or stock it.

That being said, if you have taken that into consideration and it's not an issue, if you have the space and time, get the largest you can. Go 300.

As a former 150,265,120,185, And now a 59 gal tank owner going bigger Is not always better. The thought put Into the system and the amount of time you want to spend on the tank should be the deciding factor, Oh plus tons of money If you want to do It right! JMO
