I had a 180 and plan on getting a 120. Cost and general maintenance. I will miss the 180 but I'm not rich. Even though I could afford it I just don't want to spend the extra $$$ for an extra $80 bulb + electricity , salt, fish room ect. Also I think to have tanks that big you really need a fish room to make water, have room for things. There just wasn't enough room under the tank for everything. Although it was possible not very convenient at all. Big tanks take more time to do some things like water changes.

as stated ^above^ you really need a dedicated water/maintenance room when you go this big so if you have the space/means GO FOR IT! My reef stand is packed to the brink with guff and its only a 110.

We really need to know the location, and how much room you really have to be able to help you with the tank size.

Sorry guys i have not got back to you on this. The room i have is my den. a 12 X 12 room. The feedback is great. 300 is what im looking for. I wanted my tank to be deeper and taller. Reaching the bottom is not an issue. I am in Texas and we have a glass compant near me called Deep Sea Aquatics. I picked the general area of my tank for 2 reasons. One the study is as you walk in and it will look great there. 2. if i did decide to go larger i have a room on an ajoining wall that i can use for the fuge and equipment. I plan on just having it under the main tank though.

I have actually looked into this myself. I found that the 210 is at the top of the "Standard" sizes. After you go above that. It gets ALOT more expensive for everything. I would also consider the 265. It is the same as the 210 only 7ft long instead of 6ft. I looked into the 300 and only one company makes them off of the assembly line...I think it is All-Glass. The 300 will require double everything due to its depth. I would love a 300, but the costs outweigh the benefits IMO.

I'd avoid going tall on such a big tank. I say go big if you can.

Weight should also be a consideration. If you're on a slab, you're probably fine doing little or nothing, but if you're on a foundation, no matter the choice, you'll need to do some structural reinforcement under the floor. With the 210 you're talking probably 1 1/2 tons on a relatively small foot print(6'x2') and probably 2 1/2 tons for a 300. You've probably already thought about this, but certainly not something you want to forget.

As for your selected location, I would also think about the ability to run a drain to the tank from underneath the floor, and maybe even water supply if you want to incorporate a RO/DI system into the stand. If you're on a slab, neither are an option, but if you are, it's something else to consider.
