my skimmers collection cup was about half full, and and i turned the skimmer on when the water level was too high (had to shut down my sump for fish removal) so the collection cup was overflown into the sump, the sump pump was turned on at the same time, and now i have skimmate floating all over my sump/DT. and i cant figure out how to "dial in" the skimmer, so the bubbles flow into/out of the cup.

its an avast CS-1 cone skimmer.

    Please help me.

and im sorry for being a nub

left to lower, right to rise.

guess theres really nothing i can do except wait to see what happends from the skimmate spilling into the tank.. :/

    what a rough day.

I can not help you dial your skimmer correctly BUT I will say that overflowing a skimmer happens to the best of us, newbes and oldies alike. Once you find the sweet spot on it just leave it and it should pull the protein that overflowed into the sump back out again. I know when I dialed my skimmer for the first time it took maybe an hour of just moving it a tiny bit and waiting... until I got it just so. There may be videos out there on you skimmer but I think the best bet is trial and error. Good luck!!

    thank you for the response,

so having the skimmate pour back into the tank wount kill or poison or anything horrible because the skimmer will just take it right back out?

thats good to hear. thank you again!

Not a problem normally. BUT it needs to be re-skimmed out. If it isn't it could cause nutrient issue with your tank. Unskimmed waste breaks down and causes Nitrates, Phosphates and Ammonia so of course you wouldn't want to just leave it forever. Sounds like you are on it!! ;D Good Luck
