So my tank is looking good (corals/livestock/condylactis anenome) But my skimmer (Coral life Super skimmer 65g) pump is HUGE and looks so ugly in my tank. Is there a way i could construct sort of a acrylic black box (which would rest on the bottom of the tank covering all the way to the top) to cover the pump, and then maybe set my live rock up against it to form like an island aquascape?

    Any opinions on this idea?

Nice skimmer, I used one for many years. I assume this will not fit inside of your sump? Can you hide it with rock ? If you make a black acrylic cover I think you would be fine – just drill plenty of holes and scallop cut the sides that would rest against the back of the tank. If you do this I would not suggest leaning your reef against it – come close but not leaning. You will probably want to remove it for maintenance or remove it in general down the road, wouldn’t want to disturb a happy reef if you don’t have to.

Yea. Thats good advice thanks very much. What I think I will do eventually is get some acrylic panels (high as the surface of the water) cut some teeth into it so water can pass through the top. I will also drill holes in the side so that water will pass through, but not large enough for fish to pass. I will have to get the panels in black acrylic so that I dont have to worry about any type of paint in the tank. I will hide my skimmer pump inside along with my mangroves. I think that this will really make my tank look nicer and keep me from having to worry about my skimmer sucking up my anenome.

I will also be sure not to stack rocks leaning on it. But they will be probably in an island form so that they cover the acrlyic box. I think if I just make sure to use aquarium sillicone it should hold the panels together fine. Any other advice on this anyone?

my cousin once did something sorta like this, he made panels covering it, but then he made an outer panel which he leaned the rock against.....the inside panel was able to be removed anytime.....but on the outside panel he drilled holes in it and bought voral/mushroom plugs and put them into it.....kinda hard to explain though........the inner wall was only 1 piece and it went in front of the skimmer with a slight angle \_ idk something like that...the water just went between the back panel and that 1 piece....then the outer one about half inch away...was the same thing but a little longer, went about half way across his tank witch was shaped the same and he put a wave maker blowing right at it.....this is probably confusing due to me not knowing how to explain it......
