I have a really good crop of ugly bubble algae taking over my live rock - not to mention getting my sand really dirty when I remove some of it. What causes this type of algae & how can I get rid of it? It's covering up my good purple and pink macro & my yellow tank won't even touch it. Thanks.

Don't pop them, that causes them to spread even more. What are your water params? How often are you doing water changes?

if you pop it it will make more come up. Try an emerald crab, that what took care of my small brake out. others can tell you how to very carefully manually remove it if the emerald crab doesn't work, i only had a small outbrake and within my crab's first week it's all gone

I had a rock covered with bubble algae. i took the rock out and popped each bubble and removed it while running water over the rock. i then soaked the rock in RODI water for 2 days. After that I let it dry for a week. No more bubble algae.

I only really check for calcium. It's about 350. I do a 5% water change about every 10 days or so.

I really do not want to remove any rock. I spent weeks getting that stuff stacked right. If a crap works If might try that.

Agreed with Puffer Chick, I've seen emerald crabs eat bubble algea. I think sally light foots also eat bubble algea, but I'm not 100%. How long do you run your lights? And what water are you using for water changes and top offs?
