I have been reading many threads and all have been doing a dsb sand bed in the refugium. Does this make a difference from a 2" than a 4 " in the refugium. If it does make a difference I have a 120 that has been cycling for a month. Would be o.k. to add 2 more inches of sand without disrupting the cycle.

I will let the tank cycle until I get home which is another 6 weeks out so not to concerned with that. But just curious to know if it would be better with a dsb.

    Thanks

I don't have substrate in my fuge. Bare bottom with some rubble. Works well. If you chose to add more sand it should not harm the cycle.

adding base sand that is known to NOT be alive with bacteria will generally not cause any HUGE cycling. Might cause mini-cycles.

I have not, nor will I ever, use a DSB in a fuge or display tank. Not necessary. The macros and Mangroves will do the same thing.
