So, very interested in a yasha/pistol combo (Sry, i know its so typical) My question is jsut how much of a sandbed is actually needed? I was planning on a 2" bed in my 20H, would I need more? Also, my buddy wants to do the same combo in a 5.5 AIO (which I'm building for him) Would that be too small a tank for them?

You would be fine, I have that exact pair. I assume you are getting a candy pistol shrimp?

The 5.5 might be a little small I do know that mine stays in the same spot all day everyday. then they just cover their burrow to sleep at night.

Was thinking of a red banded actually (Alpheus randalli) should I go for the candy instead?

Oh! Before I forget to ask it, think the caribsea special grade reef substrate is acceptable or should I find something with a finer grain?
