    Well unfortunately all kinds of S#&@y situations happened which caused us to all really appreciate family and understand its importance. Life is short and things change very quickly so embrace what you have today because you never know what tomorrow holds. Every negative situation will result in a positive outcome, and thats the scientist side of me that feels that way. Our closeness was a result of the bad events, we are by no means like weird close but we just try to make sure we stay apart of each others lives in this hectic world we live in.

    what a good topic for a thread.
    found out my old flatmate had a tank and pretty much forced him into letting me set it up. didnt really do any research, just figured the fish shop was kidding them selves and it would be easy. obviously that didnt go very well.
    but after it crashed it forced me to read up on what went wrong, and the more complicated everything got (nitrate cycle, element levels etc) the more interested i became.
    my occ clown is probably about 3 years old now :)
    funnily enough i never really had much interest in actual reefs until after i got more into the hobby. should probably learn to swim so i can go out and have a poke around seeing as theyre so close and all lol.
    i also love how different and varied marine life seems compared to everything else on the planet.

    My friend was selling his 155 bow. Got it for a steal, filters and all for FW. Had it FW for a few years. Then I moved, took down the tank and decided it was time to go SW. Did extensive research to do it right. (Thanks 3reefers!) And whammy, here I am today.
    I extremely enjoy watching the envoirnment I created and all the life that fills it and gets created in it. Its so calming after a bad day. "Reef tanks sooth the savage beast.."

    To answer your question, my science teacher shipped his box of aquatics straight to our school and he opened them right in front of us. haha. It was AWESOME!!!

    A guy I was dating started up a 55 gallon reef tank, and he bought me my first tank. A 3 gallon Eclipse (this was back when "they" said it couldn't be done). Ran it for four years. It also started my love of hitchhikers and inverts.

    My dad tried (unsuccessfully) to keep a FW tank when I was younger, and loved it. I've always loved fish. A few years ago I went to the Atlanta aquarium, and was amazed by the reef display.

    Then, 9 months ago, my wife wanted a goldfish. So we went out and started a FW tank (6 gal). Did alot of research, and kept the fish alive and healthy. 6 months ago, my wife was inquiring on what it would take to get a Nemo. More research, and here I am!

    So, yeah, boss's permission...::)
