the above suggestion by invert phil is worth considering and may well help with your present cyno situation

in addition do check your parameters just in case cyno is not the end of the problem

i heard that to over the years but i have also heard theres a possibility that a bed shallower then 5 inches may not work depend upon the grain of your sand. and if it doesnt work it creates a spot to shallow to allow denitratfication and to deep to allow efficent use of aerobic microbes. and leaves you with a sand bed with the flaws of a dsb and none of the benefits. i still sticking to my suggestion of making it more shallow, but its your tank i cant make you do it.

really your husbandry isnt bad(besides the dsb), better then alot of tanks with no algae(for now that is). which is why i feel confident in recommending the slime remover to you. like said before to alot of people that use it are only getting a band aid treatment, but thats because there husbandry is bad and nutrients will build up again. but there are a few people that have changed there husbandry, or never had bad husbandry and just had a large amount of nutrients in there live rock, that can use it to speed up the removal of the excess nutrients.

a cyano eating creature will not fix your problem, as the nutrients are still there, the difference is the creature poops it out and then the cyano uses the nutrients in the poop to grow again, the only way it could make a difference is if it eats enough cyano to let the plants in the fuge take off

btw what type of lighting do you have on your fuge, enough to grow the plants i trust?
