Hi everyone. I'm on verge of swapping a 60 for a 90g tank. Was lining up my sump intake and outtake and saw problems. Picture is intake into sump. White part goes inside black bulkhead. Only thing holding it in place is how far I jammed it up. I can see massive tank leak in my future. I've seen clamps or ties. But how when the tube is inside the bulk head? Bulk head is solid so don't even understand how a clamp would work. Could glue it in but then I'm committed forever.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

PS on day 17 for fish QT for Ich

If you are still in the planning and assembly stages I would replace the bulkheads with thread x thread versions.

That is the problem with slip versus threaded bulkheads. In your case if you don't want to replace the bulkheads I would glue the PVC nipple in the bulkhead then slip the hose over it and secure it with a hose clamp.

Here is a Sticky I did on Bulkhead Tips that may help:

+1 AZDesertRat sound advice. On a side note I added Di resin to my RO after reading his thread on water filtration.

They have a general purpose glue that works for both ABS and PVC plastics that works better with bulkheads since they are a different plastic compound.

You need a glue compatible with both materials for it to seal effectively. If the bulkhead is Sch 80 PVC then what you have is acceptable but black ABS plastic is a different compound. Read the label on the glue can to see what they recommend. Do it right the first time, it is never good when you have to go back and do it over.
My motto in this hobby is" If it is worth doing, it is worth doing right the first time." Unfortunately many times in the last 30+ years in the saltwater hobby I learned this after the fact and it cost me time and money. It is not a cheap hobby but it is extremely rewarding when things go right.

image.jpg This is becoming a hassle. Can't find a PVC piece that can go from bulkhead to 1/4 tube. LFS gave me this mess. Have to glue piece into bulkhead. Then 1/2 short piece of tube. To another PVC that will fit 1/4 outtake tube. Ugh. So I'd have to clamp every connection. Just seems like high risk for leak. Would prefer to not glue if don't have too.
Home Depot and Ace Hardware don't have a PVC pierce to bypass all those extra connections.
    Idea?
