How Do I Get A Nasty Damsel Out Of My Tank and Life???

i recently got two bluefin damsels out of my tank with a net. i didnt feed them for two days, held the food under the water, when they came by in went the net.

 

I luckly started out with a pair of yellowtail blue damsels. I love their beauty and activity.

With four damsels and a pair of maroon clowns. My tank is no place for overly passive tankmates.

Usually moving about so quickly I can never seem to get a clear shot of one when taking pics. This is one from yesterday morning.

Can't imagine trying to catch one of these guys with a hook in a busy tank.

Fish trap would work best.

I have used the fishing technique once to catch a large blue hippo that had outgrown tank. Worked quite well.

If doing so, make sure to use a barbless hook or you will injure fish more then necessary.

 

reminds me of the last mythbusters episode i saw about shooting fish in a barrel lol.they prooved its really hard until they broke out the auto lol.i love myth busters.yeah i have a chromi i think i'll use the fish hook method even though its not as exciting.

 

Dynamite! Works much better than the gun.

 

take a clear glass jar, situate it so the mouth of the jar is surrounded by rock (like a cave)
chase the fish to the seemingly safe cave and they get stuck in the jar. use the rubber bulb from a turkey baster to plug the jar opening and voila! out goes fishy for 0$

 

I used a little trebble hook to get mine out. Not tiny, one you'd use for catfishing or something like that. just set it in a cave where i knew he swims by now and then. had the fishing line hanging out of the tank. enough line where i didnt need to be close to the tank to spook him. he swam by, i yanked and he was out. =) tossed him in the blender and fed him back to my fish....circle of life and all.

I had to pull all the freakin rock out of my tank. Another advantage of a nano!!!! Less rock to remove..... lol

 

worked excellently for me capturing two blue damsels and a sergeant major and I had tried everything else.

course i just have a tiny 55 gal :-[

 

I had to take all the rock out of my tank, I had two yellow tailed bastard fish and they killed my first pair of clowns. good riddance. Im not cruel though, i took them back to my LFS for, of course, no credit. Lot to love Fairbanks, competition could be great for this place..
