I bought a Dwarf Zebra Lionfish at my lfs the other day and hes eating ghost shrimp. Ive tried to give him the following: krill, mysis shrimp, squid, and blood worms. I am using garlic extreme but to no avail. U dud have a break through today however well i think its a breakthrough. He will take dead ghost shrimp off the feeding tongs! he will still not take anything else but ghost shrimp. how should i proceed to wean him off of ghost shrimp?

Keep feeding it dead shrimp from your feeder tongs and pull a quick one on it. Give it the ol' switcharoo after a few feedings. Try some salad shrimp. After a while, feeder tongs won't be necessary.

I started mine off with live adult brine shrimp.
I put him in a 2.5 gal aquarium (so there would be no competition for food) with some live rock and an open ended airline for water movement.
After a week, I started mixing in frozen brine shrimp with the live but gradually over the next two weeks I reduced the amount of live and increased the frozen.
Somewhere around the six week mark I quite feeding live and just fed frozen and he's been fine now for the last few years.
If you are using ghost shrimp, try feeding frozen mysis when you put in the live ghost shrimp as they look much more alike.

Mission's got it to a T. He will associate feeding with the tongs. Do a switch and trick him after he knows the tongs.
