How do I know if I have Pods in my tank

    I have a 28g tank with a refugium with some chaeto in it and I am wondering how do I know if I have a lot of pods in my tank?

    oh, you'll know ;) haha umm just turn your lights off, wait an hour or two then get a flashlight with a red lens and shine it in your tank, you'll be suprised :)

    how do I get a red lens for a flash light? I have a moonlight, should I turn that off when I look for them?

    they look like little clear shrimps..take the red flashlight and look around the holes in your rock, if you have them you will see them out walking around, usually not too far away from their little holes..JME with mine in my tank..

    if you see little white buglike things on your tank walls those are pods. they might also be in the fuge; small and white

    i have moonlights and can see them under them..your moonlights may not be bright enough...

    i have a headband flashlight that has a red led light on it..i think duracel makes it, i got it from walmart for a few bucks..

    another trick

    is to leave lights off for a couple of hours and then switch them back on again
    you should see plenty of scurrying about within a few seconds IME

    You guys must have shy pods. The amphipods in my fuge don't care if the light's on or not. Heck, I throw crab pellets in there for them and they come out and eat them. The adults take the entire pellet and run off with it LOL. The only time they hide is when I take the chaeto out to shake in the DT. They hide for about 20 minutes after that...unless I throw more crab pellets in there! :cheesy:
