yeah it can help its more for alk and calcium. Try aragamilk, I have the same problem, aragamilk will buffer your ph to 8.3-8.4 and you cant over dose. so there is no worry about having too high of ph. I love it

yes kalk will raise your ph, also keeps alk in line and adds calcium. IMO its the cheapest and easiest way to get stable readings. before i started using kalk i had low ph and high alk
i dose it threw my ato. where ever you have it going into your sump pick a high flow area for it to drop into, if your going to use it in your ato. use a very slow pump. try to have some sort of back up on your ato since sensors stick.
my controller backs mine up, it cuts power to the ato if the ph gets above 8.45 (which i think I'm going to lower to 8.35, i like to keep my ph around 8.2 to 8.3) the controller sends me a text when it cuts the power to it, so i know it hasn't happened to often.

I used Seachem Reef Buffer to raise my Ph from 7.8 to 8.3 over the course of a week and a half. I have about 44gal total water volume and just added 1 tsp every other day.

I just added wasser to my top off.

I followed the instructions and one thing im not sure of, my top off water is now milky, it was crystal clear before now its a little milky.

I have a gravity feed ATO I have it dripping into the return chamber.

Is this the best place for the top off to drain into ? I assumed it was the only place ?

There are only 2 ways. Increase alkalinity or decrease CO2. Kalk will do both, but beware, if you increase alkalinity too much, the result will be worse than low CO2. I.e. don't go over 11dkh or so, and don't raise alk by more than 1 dkh per day.

if you didnt want to add anything to your tank another thing you could do is drop an air pump in or point a powerhead toward the surface of the water...the more O2 in the system the higher the ph

This is what I have used in the past and works great. It tops off at 8.3 so no worries of over dosing. Do test regularly though.
