okay so i found out for sure my tank has ich, i started a thread earlier but we all agreed it was probably just sand or bubbles, but now my sailfin tang has died and he was covered in white spots, also my yellow tang and one of my clowns has ich too, my tank is full of coral so how would i go about ridding my tank of this?

If there are no fish left you can leave it fallow for a period of time. IIRC it's only a month or two.

ive seen places say that non copper meds work but some say that copper and low salinity only work, and that would require setting up a quarantine which i dont have the means to do now

well if you cant use a qt tank, i use this stuff called ich attack. its worked amazing for me in the past haven't had ich in a while now. The manager at one of the Big Als in Toronto turned me onto it, he said he always uses it at home and work so i gave it a try and boom, within a week my fish were all cured, then gave em a blast of melafix and large wc and everyone lived and has been happy, it is coral and invert safe.

Ick-attack is good stuff for prevention. Its almost Pure garlic take a wif next time you open the bottle. As far as it getting rid of ick have not seen it but maybe fore some people it works just not me. I had a bad case about 3-4 weeks ago took them out quarentined them and a few died due to ick/stress. What i did and dont get me wrong here I use ick attack as a prevention more than anything. But I installed a UV sterlizer to control the population and Put some cleaner shrimp in there to help the fish. My tang gets it he is the only one who ever gets it but he is smart he will let those cleaner shrimp clean the hell out of him so works good and more of a natural way of doing it. I think controling this ick is more of a what works for you thing than anything cuz I have never seen a stright answer and 20 diffrent ways of doing it.

    Just my 2 cents

your definitely right in the aspect of everyones approach is different, thats because we each have designed our aquariums to be individual, different stocking, amounts of everything, etc so one cure for someone will not necessarily work for another, but im just saying it worked for me and a few others who recommended it so it might be worth a shot.

I have to disagree with you though in the prevention aspect. I dont dose with this stuff regularly, only when ich was present. For it to be preventative, i would be constantly using it. Not only when ich came around and then stopped once it was gone and no other meds were used during that time. So yes again i am going to have to disagree with you on the prevention and say it is a good cure. Theres a lot of garlic in it but other stuff too, I've emailed the company although recipe is hidden they admitted it wasn't just garlic, because i already had that concern.

Three sure fire ways to 109% kill marine crypt. 1. Copper, 2. Hyposalinity. 3. Have no fish in display for min 6 weeks.

The first two will kill most if not all invertsso don't use in ur reef. My best advice if u have a reef is to remove all fish to qt and treat them with copper or hypo. Leave reef display fishless for 6 weeks and you will rid it of crypt.

Then any new fish are qt'ed for a period to make sure they don't harbor the parasite.

I have been there before and did a bunch of research and reading. Garlic is a myth. It may entice appetite but that is all. Reef safe treatments are sketchy and most are worthless.
