In a large polythene bag - just enough water to ensure fish stays wet and then balance of bag is filled with oxygen from a tank

these are then packed into polystyrene shipping boxes and sent to where ever they are going

The above is large scale for LFS etc

for smaller scale, individual purchases , its same principle only using smaller cartons to pack them

they dont need light for the 24 hours or so these things often spend in transit

they normally pack 1 fish to a bag anyway to ensure oxygen is not going to be an issue
they have stickers over the crates so that airport workers know its live animals inside ( and hopefully dont throw the cartons to each other whilst loading etc)

same with corals - even your light demanind SPS species can manage a day or more without light

Yep, just like steve said. Plastic bag with water sealed shut with oxygen. The bag is then placed in an insulated shipping container with either a hot or cool pack depending on the weather. Then shipped via next day shipping.
