I have one in my tank that has not opened all day. He is still attatched partially to the tank, but hasn't opened up in about 9 hours now. Will he unattatch his foot when he dies? TIA

Oh, you'll know it. He'll fall off the rock, and most likely, look like he blew apart. It can take out your tank. Maybe gently poke it. If he stays attached, he may be just expelling (constipated anemone?).

It will loose its footing, become slimy, and/or smell very bad. And as stated before, if it dies IN the tank, you'll notice everything else is starting to die along with it ;)

yup...you'll know it when you see it! He wouldn't be attached to anything thats for sure, depending on how big he is he'll just kinda tumble around the tank lifeless thanks to water movement or passers by. It will just look like a big sloppy, stringy, goopy mess. They do smell HORRIBLE, and they will definitely wipe out your tank because of the excessive amount of ammonia it releases due to decomposition. If it is in fact dead, remove it at once. If it's attached to something though, then it's likely not dead...

How long have you had it and when was the last time you fed it ? It could be nothing but simply inverted to flush its waste and if you just put it in the aquarium then it is natural for these 99.9% sac-o-water to invert flush its own water and uo take the new tanks water.
