As long as your hand is wet you wont rub off too much of their slime coat.

I've put all my fish into my tank the way tangster does it, I would never dream of putting a whole bag of LFS water into my tank. The thing to remember is your not grabbing them, you are cupping them in your hand and lowering them into the tank. I would much rather have them in my clean hand then rubbing all over inside a net, getting their spines caught.

I'm going to try Tangsters method next time as well, sound logical to me.

I don't get all the preachiness. This thread lists various acclimation methods. Pick and choose as you wish, no need for the shots at peoples methods. Whatever works for you.

Currently I float for 30-45 mins and use a turkey baster to remove some water and add tank tank water every 15 mins for an hour.

Not a good idea if you have corals to ever pour a LFS water into your system most all LFS treat with and maintain copper in their fish systems to help with parasites.. I have asked a LFS point blank if they ran copper in their systems . Get home test the water and they had more copper in their systems then I'd want in my reef tank..Now it may not harm anything at first as the dilution factor is huge. But metals will build up and another reason to run a metal attracting polymer like Kent's and sea chem sell .You never no..):

Also I don't recall ever saying to GRAB anything :) I'm very careful these days to go to the extreme to be sure I say what I mean as It seems I have obtained the attention of the Reef Tank Nazis :) Then I get the blame of being to wordy ??

OK so all of you are talking about this transfer involving water from the LFS, I take it very few if any of you are using a quarantine tank prior to transferring to the display tank?

    Good point Matt.

Once I start bring critters home they will definitely go into the new QT tank...

Haven't had anything in it yet but that will change this week. ;D

Yea I'm not sure why that one guy was getting all preachy and pissed and downright bashing you and amcarrig. Not to mention the excessive use of quotation marks - good lord!! If he doesn't like or agree with your method, fine. Maybe he can't accept the fact that you have more respect on these forums than he does? ;D
