I have a reef octopus 1000 hang on skimmer. My question is, it may be putting out fewer bubbles than previously....could that be because the venturi is clogged? Does this happen sometimes? I've never had a skimmer this large before...there just seems to be fewer bubbles overall....

Not sure about yours since my skimmer is different but i just put my air control valve (at the end of the air line) in a cup of ro/di while running which flushes the salt creep build up out.Works like a champ every time.

yeah I use a syringe to inject ro water into the tube...it sucks it right up and gets rid of the salt build up. works great

Into the actual tube, not where it's attached to? I am very, very mechanically challenged.

yep directly into the tube...it will pull it all the way down and flush the venture....Hurry go try it and tell us how it worked.

yeah, right where the air sucks in,it'll pull the water right into it and if thats the trouble, you'll see a difference in the amount of bubbles.Piece of cake ;)

LOL no seriously that's how I clean mine. It works great. You just need to dissolve that salt creep

Dilluted Vinegar is also great as a saltwater cleaning agent if you need something tougher than just RO water.

I just did a deep clean on my skimmer, and I'm amazed how much better it's performing!
