It's a good idea to take them out if you have kids because they like to play with them when you're not watching. I have a bunch of scratches on the glass because of it. They get down in the sand bed and then back up on the glass. Not good. I'd stick with the scrubber.

OH good lord.. I have three of them in my tank. one mag float that has a feeder on it for my CBB, one that I use regularly, and then I have a magnavore for the hard stuff. that thing is Wicked strong on the 1/2" glass. For the outside I use some windex and a microfiber cloth. I have a full hood so I just spray it on the glass. never had any issue with it.

I was once doing some odd jobs when an urge came over me to see if the green algae and coraline would come off easily with a razor scraper, to my astonishment it just peeled right off, very easily.

So committed now I set about removing it all, I have to say the 1st 1 or 2 strips were easy Peasy ! The rest was a damn night mare and I cursed and swore for the next 90 minutes, for the next 3 months I regretted seeing the mess I created, and prayed for some more coraline and algae to grow back.

I just cleaned my back glass before going to work. I don't know if cleaning the glass on my aquarium is okay or not considering it is still cycling. I noticed that there was streaks of white across the back glass and I decided to clean it. I hope that next time it wont look like streaks. lol

Windex and an angle grinder. If that doesn't work, I bust out the big guns...Mag Float.
