I was wondering how do people clean their hydrometer:confused:?? We rinse ours after every use but we get water deposits making it harder to get an accurate reading.. We were thinking about using some lemon juice b/c it works with cleaning coffee makers for water deposits.. but would this be a bad thing to use for the hydrometer?? or do you guys know of something better?? Thanks for your help!! :cheesy:

You can get a decent Refractometer for about $40 at Marine Depot, not only is it far more accurate you don't have to play the guessing game on weather it is correct or not. You would be surprised by how off a hydrometer can be.

+1 This is also the refractor that I use and I also recommend it highly - very accurate, very easy, very inexpensive.

I checked out his rating... has some negatives... looks like double charges for shipping sometimes (accident I'm sure). Did you have any issues?

I use vinegar too. Works great for any reef related item that gets buildup. Pumps, hydrometer, etc.
