    Hi All,

I clean out the collection cup of my Seaclone 150 Protein Skimmer on a daily basis. By clean I mean I take the cup off, dump it out and give it a quick rinse in fresh water.

There is a lot of brown stuff stuck to the inside of the tube inside the collection cup - the part where the skimate rises up from the skimmer. Should I be scrubing that off as well?

    Thanks

    Adam

The skimmer will work better if you do, yes.

I find that a rubber spatula from the kitchen works very well to squeegee the gunk out of the tube. Than just wipe the spatula off on a paper towel. Repeat as necessary!

You'll note that I said "from the kitchen" but nowhere did I say "return to kitchen"!

I find using a soft pastry brush is useful for cleaning skimmer cups. I do mine under the tap about once a week. I found after I left my skimmer cup for about a month the performance is noticably worse.

Keep the pastry brush purely for cleaning the skimmer and certainly don't use one that has been washed up in washing up liquid

I just make a cigar out of paper towel and push it through.
You guys clean yours once a day? Wow. I do mine once a week.

Once per day is preferred, once per week is more realistic! LOL! I guess somewhere in between would be acceptable! ;D
