What do you use to get rid of the red algae scale from your equipment like powerheads, skimmer & egg crate?
I know many use vinegar, but is it like a vat of vinegar? Is there a special formula or solution you use?

Use a 4 parts water to 1 part vinegar to remove hard deposits and calcium deposits. If you are seeing hard red deposits, it may be red coralline algae.

I dont bother with dilution. I just get two gallons of distilled white vinegar from Walmart for a couple of bucks each, dump in a five gallon bucket, drop the powerheads in there and let them go for a day or so. I think I let the really crusty ones go for two or three days.

Now. I really overkilled this. But it worked like a charm. I did two Koralias at a time and left the other two in the tank to provide flow.

    And don't forget to rinse.
