Yea, I have 2 of the little ones myself. They are a whole lot more important than anything else. So i think your priorities are in the right place. Its definitely not a cheap hobby...

I hit CL for a long time waiting for a great deal. I am trading someone tomorrow an old laptop for a mag 5, a empty 75 G and some live rock. I dont even need any of that stuff right now. I am just capitalizing on an opportunity for equipment that i might need later so im not stuck having to buy new in a jam.

Slowly i think is how you do it affordably. And ironically - or maybe i should say conveniently :) that is how you have the best reef tank anyways.

So K+ to you for doing your tank the way its supposed to be bro

and good luck to your tigers tonight haha.

    update!!
a guy from my local reef club said he would sell me a tek 6 bulb t5 fixture, about a year old. for 200 bucks.

i think its a good deal. plus he said he would wait for me to get the money and not sell it to someone else.

should i get it? it comes with the legs to mount it also. and from what im reading it will fit almost perfect on my 55.

Tek fixtures are really good quality IMO. Sounds like a great deal to me.

Check into the cost of the bulbs to help you determine if it is a good deal. If the fixture is a year old, figure that you will need to start thinking about replacing the bulbs. Yes, it is a good fixture IMO. And the guy being willing to wait on the $ is really nice. That is why local clubs are such a great resource.

so instead of the tek fixture i think i might go with the sundial t5's
2 less bulbs but it has built in timers and leds, its a lil more than the tek but its brand new

You wouldn't still happen to have their number would you?.....::)

Actually, I click my heals while repeating, "...pay day is only 30 days away, pay day is only 30 days away..."
