After time, all becketts tend to clog. This goes for almost anything that injects air into water. This produces less foam decreasing the effeciency of the skimmer. This is generally caused by salt buildup. When I notice a drop off, I have been simply placing the air intake hose into RODI water. If I'm industrious, I'll nuke the water to warm it up. I typically do this once a week on my beckett or venturi based skimmers.

I have noticed that over time, I need to do this more often. I'm assuming there is a CA buildup inside of the injectors. Since I can't get to the holes in some of my beckett injectors to physically remove the CA, is there a way of cleaning it's internals short of replacing the injector? Maybe soak it in vinegar overnight?

    Thanks,

    Bruce

I just pull the beckett out and open it up and scrub it. I used to get a ton of small snails in mine
I did this every time I cleaned the colection cup

I've never noticed much in mine but the MRC comes apart for easy cleaning.

I've got 2 older style becketts in my big skimmer. You can't get all the way inside and I have to partially disassemble the skimmer to remove them. (PITA) I also have the kind that comes apart. The problem is with the former.

I think for $40 I'll get 2 replacement becketts as backups and try soaking.
