How do you make computer fans work?

    I bought 2 computer fans from Radio Shack but not sure how to rig them so I can plug them in. I have seen suggestions on this sight to do it, but never how to do it. Help would be appreciated. thanks

    You'll have to get a 12vdc power supply for them or take them back and get fans that are 120vac.
    Unless some of you great 3reefers have another Idea ?????

    I saw something about using a 12v cell phone charger. They just spliced the wires and wire nutted them to the fan wire leads. I can't remember where i saw this, do a google search, how i found it.

    Many chargers do not have sufficient amps. Look at the fans, they should list the draw. Add it up and match it to the transformer. It's OK if the transformer is of a slightly higher amperage. The fans just draw what they need.

    I use 4 of them on my custom canopy. A 1amp power supply can be purchased at radio shack to supply these with the voltage you need. While I dont like the prices at rat-shack i went to a local science and surplus to get a nice deal. My 4 fans are on the same powerstrip(timer) as my lights so the obviously only run when lights are on.
