How do you make computer fans work?

    Thanks Serotonin, I will hit the old rat-shack after work. They might even have the fans i been looking for. I am trying to bulid a custom canopy to house my TEK T5-HO 8 bulb hood.

    Radio Shack has 4" AC 120V fans I have had one over the tank for over a year now. $24, 65CFM and quiet.

    if there is a Fry's near you, i just got 2 4" 100cfm fans for $12 each and a 1200ma ac/dc power supply for $10. the fans only draw 340ma.

    also, prob a stupid question, but do ya'll aim the fans to blow into or out of the canopy

    You do need the fans too for an enclosed canopy even with T-5s. I fired my original T-5s when I ran them with out enough ventilation.

    Check Ebay too. I bought 10 3" fans last spring for something like $30 with shipping.

    Oh, mine are on the same timer as my lights too.

    They look ok to me, just make sure the cord is going to be long enough for your tank and canopy.

    I went with something like this and added a power supply. I have 8 vent holes in my hood. I used 4 fans to blow in. Next time I take the hood off the beast, I'll add 4 exhaust fans to increase the flow. I was worrying about salt corrosion on the exhaust fans. Oh, I no longer have them on the same timer as the lights. They run 24/7.

    Oh yeah, those look fine. I like that they come with the power supply.
