How do you prepare garlic?

I want to add garlic to my brine and flake but it seems way over priced at the LFS 18.00 a bottle! How do you use garlic cloves? Do you just marinate the food with garlic chunks then remove them?

 

I buy minced garlic at the market its got plenty of juice to pour over thier food when you get low on juice just mash it youll get more out. lasts a long time and its only 2 bucks for a small jar

 

As I'm new to this whole I thing I don't feel so foolish asking this, but why do you neeed garlic anyways?

 

Hey, Stoll, the food soaked in garlic juice will boost the fish's immune system, so less prone to diseases.

Anyone has more to add? I am new to this too.

GKW is right. It keeps fish healthier. Garlic Xtreme is kinda pricey, I use the formula two pellets with garlic and vitamin c, my tang absolutely loves that crap. Smells kinda nice too. ;D

 

i found kyolic garlic on the internet it was on sale i got 4 bottles for 32 bucks i think it was, its a liquid. garlic also helps with ick since its a parsite they dont like the taste of the blood so the ick wont stick to the fish. the same works i get brewers yeast tablets with garlic for dogs and cats it works the same way repels the parasite. one other thing garlic might do is it seems to increase appetite in some fish and helps some of the hard to get to eat fish to eat becuase of its strong scent
