if i were to buy a 250 ml how often would i have to change that out?

 

are you talking carbon or Purigen?

Carbon 250 mls in a modestly stocked set up, yours is 22 gal? changed monthy would be good IMO

Purigen - 250 mls is good for 200 gallon UK or 250 gallon US tanks and can be regenerated in a mix of bleach and water , I have been informed its good for up to 8 regenerations - and you can tell when its exhuasted as it changes colour from off white to dark brown - then regenerate
in my tank I have 250 mls purigen (70 gallon tank) been in 2 months plus and its still off white slightly brown - so in your sized tank its going to be many months ( Id say 6 - 9 ,under normal biolaod - educated guess ) before it will need regenerating

correct me if im wrong but does this sound like the single most retarded thing that you have ever read... maybe im just ignorant and dont get it but i was reading up on carbon and stumbled upon this... to me it does the oposite of what you want... CONFUSED!!! because last time i checked phosphates and algae are bad things... o ya and last time i checked ph "shocks" over 10.0 are pretty fricking bad for an aquarium!!!

 

I use chemi-clean carbon and noticed right away water clarity diff

its a chemical filtration media , produced by Seachem
its absorbs Ammonia, Nitrite and Nitrate
250 Mls is good for 250 US gallons , and it gets darker as it absorbs these impurities so you know when to regenerate or exchange it

having used it for a few months I can only find 1 negative about it

if you buy the 100ml packs - you get the media in a very fine mesh bag
if you buy the 250ml plastic bottles , you dont get a bag to put it in, its very fine spheres
so you need to make sure you get a very fine mesh to put it in, or a lot ends up down the sink if you rinse it and have not made sure the mesh you used was fine enough (Doh)

do not attempt vodka dosing. I tried it for about a month because I just can't leave things alone. I almost completely lost my 10 inch purple cap, I lost a pink stylophora, and nearly lost a bunch of other corals. Things were just burning and I was dosing half the recommended dose. Yes its true vodka will clear your water up but good mainenance will also do it. BTW I welcome a little debris in my water and so do my corals.

 

I used to dose with Vodka, and couldnt leave it alone either..sobered up and found out my girlfriend wasnt pretty after all..

LOL there's still 3/4 of a bottle sitting on my canopy. I bought the cheap stuff for that reason=)
