The fish poop is the last of my worries for getting in my mouth, it's all of the bacteria floating around in there that I'm more concerned with. The tank is basically a big bacterial culture.

If I have to suck I try and put my shirt over the part that I have to suck on so I'm at least not putting my lips directly on the tubing. Otherwise depending on the size of the tubing you're using for the siphon I've used the submerge method but also you can try just putting the end of the tubing directly in front of a powerhead, sometimes that is enough force to push the water up and over the edge as well. Quick and easy.

I suck the syphon, but I do two things. One is I put my hand around it half on the tube and half off, so I'm only sucking on my hand, not the tube itself. I also put the bucket below the water source, so once it starts flowing down I get out of the way before I get saltwater in my mouth.

Ok. I just deleted [STRIKE]6[/STRIKE] 7 posts in this thread that were completely immature. It is really too bad as this thread could have taught people a thing or two.

I am not the most mature 39 year old, but give me break. This is a fish forum. You want to talk like 12 year olds, this is not the place, so go find somewhere else. :p
