How does Karma work?

I've noticed that when I give out karma, it usaully only affects by a couple points. But sometimes when I recieve karma it can jump like 100 in just one time. Is there any reasoning behind it.

 

the more you have the more you give, so if someone with 10,000 karma gives you some you get a ton, yet if you only have 500 it only gives a few points. When you first login now you'll see a Karma Power at the top, that is how much you give when you give karma

 

It is based on a few different things. Near as I can tell, this is how it goes. Look at mine. 1994 posts and 3904 karma

3904 karma gives me 40 karma points (39+1).
I am a 3reefer so that gives me 1
I am a 3linker so that gives me 1

That's 42. Now....I can give 43. Where does the other '1' come from? I think it is based on the posts. 0-1000 = 0, 1000-1999 = 1, etc. So if that's the case, I have

40+1+1+1=43

That's my best guess.

 

You give about 10 per 1000 that you have.

 

10 for every 1000 rep points or posts?

If you look at your main page, as you would normally to see the threads, right below the blue tab, there another blue tab that says;

open that tab and it will show you your rep power score. Luna

 

It is also at the top of the 3reef homepage.

 

I don't think any of you guys are right about the points and karma. Just try it on mine and I'll get back to ya, and let ya know if your right k. j/k
