My garden didnt do as well for me as it has in previous years due to not being able to give it the attention it needed. But we still got some zuchini, green beans, lettuce, and still have some tomatoes that are almost ripe. My apricot tree on the other hand produced the best apricots I have ever had, and lots of them. I gave away at more than 80#'s worth. I gave full bags away to the assissted living community my mom works at, she mentioned they dont get much fresh fruit and said the residents would enjoy them. Everyone at work got some as did he neighbors and all our extended family. We were giving them away just so they wouldnt go to waste. The ones that fell we left the on the ground for the birds, and other critters to eat. Already looking foreward to apricots next year.

Very true, and how much everyone appreciated the fresh produce made me feel good. I got the same feeling as when people come by and ooh & aah when seeing my tank for the first time.;D

I'll have to get pics of mine., it is 20' x 22', and I have several varieties of tomatoes, Delice de la Table melon, watermelon (Moon & Stars, Sugar Baby & Orangeglow), Dragon Tongue beans, white rice beans, Lima beans, Bolita beans (a pole type), Kentucky Wonder pole beans, sorghum, jalapenos, bell peppers, Dragon's Egg & Lemon cucumbers, Romanesco Italia broccoli, Purple of Sicily cauliflower, & Costoluto Romanesco zucchini and snow peas (which are still producing).

I did have several other plants, early hanover melon, and tomatillos, but between the chickens & ducks breaking into my garden and munching away they didn't make it.

For my beans I used 10' x 1/2 " metal conduit and sunk it about a foot into the ground then used gray [plastic conduit (is UV resistant) and cut it to just over 6' lengths and attached it w/fittings to the metal uprights. I set the uprights a bit closer than the length of the horizontal piece so tension would keep it together. Then stung twine from a tent stake up to the horizontal pipe and over to another tent stake, then back again till I had enough for the plants I had grown.

One of the 2 bean trellises w/ the cucumber one in the background (it is 2 metal conduits, since the row is just over 10'...one was cut in half for the uprights).

Both Pole bean rows...both sets of beans have grown to the top and beyond.

I completely agree. If I buy any plants during the Summer they will just whither away and die. I'm going to see how I do with Pumpkins during the Fall :)

We planted late this year because of the heat and wild weather swings last year...and it was a wise decision..everything is perfect..just 6 weeks off the "suggested" planting time...we will see how the Fall sets in.. ; )
