I wish I could have a garden, but I live on the side of the mountain. Soil is very rocky here.

    Thank you
    sir.
It's actually been pretty easy after the initial prep and work. T
The Mrs. tilled it all by hand one hot afternoon, went to a local farm and got some great compost, a full bulk load in my pickup, spread that around and built the animal proof fence.
Just keeping it saturated in theweather this year has been the real work... Well, we have weeded it a handful of times on some hot days - not fun!

Started all the lettuce, beans, peas, beets and radishes from seeds. Toms, peppers, cukes, basil, chives and dill plants were bought locally...

My garden got smaller as my ducks have found a way in, I have tried to do what I can to find where they've gotten in & fixed it but so far no luck keeping them out.

The 2 things they haven't decimated are the pole beans.

I haven't done much in the way of weeding as my wrist still hurts from surgery for torn ligaments, it was done in Nov.. of last year but is still painfull and weak (is why I was off the forum for a while, hurt to even use a mouse).

I may have to come up with a design like your for my beans and peas next year as mine have currently reached the top of the trestles...

Yeah mine did last year so I came up with this. It was supposed to be the whole 6' of pole but the chickens kept getting in and eating/scratching up my seedlings. Also with this design I could fit more in less space because you can use both sides of the pole to string the twine, effectively giving you 12' of row in 6' of space.

It aslo works for cucumbers and climbing melons, but need to add horizontal twine as well or use premade net type trellis.

i cant grow crap, the high mountain climate is awful for any gardening. at an elevation of around 9-10 thousand nothing grows here besides some ground hugging plants and shrubs and some coniferous trees. nice gardens all of you though.
