So I have a tank running for 1.5 years. I recently purchased some dry rock and i'm going to cure it. Once it is cured I was wondering if i should add it slowly to the tank or can I put it all in at once. BTW I have about 20 pounds and have 15 curing now. I have a sump where some will go also.

If it's already dry, you can probably add it without curing it, wait a few weeks, then add another piece. If you want to add it all at once, cure it all then you can add it all at once.

if it was live, and then left to dry I like your curing it first idea and slowly adding it if the tank is established.

This is not intended to be a smart a55 remark. I am a newbie. How can you cure a rock that is already dead? Whats there to cure?

you want to get all that decay out and make sure it doesn't cause any ammonia/nitrite/nitrate issues. live rock that was dried is a little nasty inside at first. i guess "cycling" it might be a better term, but cured also refers to this, as well as regular curing of shipping die off.

OK thanks, It was live it is now dry. I'm going to cure it (let it cycle) and probably add it slowly. In my exp (very little) slow is always better. Anyway I'm not in any hurry. The tank is established btw.

no but nuking it will. I would nuke it, let it dry thoroughly then add it all at once.

once nuked, there isn't anything left to decay. rendering it inert. effectively, cured IMO.

EDIT: by nuking, I mean bleach water
