I am in the process of setting mine up too and I have been told that 5 times the water volume is what I should shoot for....Hope that helps.

My flow in the sump/refugium is 300 GPH on an 80 gallon display or approximately 4 timees turnover per hour. HTH

Ok but your sump is not 80 gallon I think that what they are talking is the 5 times turnover trough their sump/refu which in your case should be 150Gph becouse you have 30 gal sump/refu

80 gallon display with 30 gallon sump/refugium.  300 GPH.  Baffles reduce the flow in the refugium. HTH

Craig, I don't understand!! If you have 300 GPH that is the flow... No matter how many baffles you put in the FLOW will still be 300 gph or 10 times the volume per hour, correct? While I will have 900 gph hour flowing into my sump, only 70 gph will be flowing through my 14 gallon refugium, the remainder will by pass the refu and go into the skimmer area.

    Baffled, eh? LOL

The water flows over the top of the baffles in the fuge at 300 GPH . The baffles are the same heigth. I drilled holes in the sides of the baffles to get some cross current.
